Daniel Fernandez (b. 2005) is a contemporary artist whose work interrogates the discourse of agrarian anthropology, ethnography, and sociology in rural North America. Working across photography, video, and sound installation, his practice often incorporates empirical data-collection, paired with research-driven text. Interested in its tenets of linguistic inquiry and field-based research, his work examines the complexities of transnational cultural values and labor practices, drawing influence from the vernacular experiences of working-class Latin/e communities. He lives and works between Napa, California, and Chicago, Illinois.
