Danel Fernández is a visual artist whose practice examines how histories of agricultural policy and rural life are written and preserved, informed by the conventions and modes of production of photography and film. His work attends to these questions through ethnographic research and the study of his own family history. His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago; Fine Arts Building, Chicago; and SITE Galleries, Chicago. He has discussed his practice in conversations with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; Northwestern University, Evanston; and Duke University, Durham. He previously served as an Assistant Educator at the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation. He currently lives and works in Chicago, Illinois.
